This is an inventory reduction sale. These drives have been reduced in price below what they cost to manufacture. They will not be sold at a lower price. When they are sold no more will ever be made. NEW BYERS 11-5/16" gear with matching worm. The spring-loaded/ball-bearing slip-clutch is bored to fit a 2-inch shaft diameter.

This drive is top-of-the-line. It is the most accurate drive system ever made by Byers Company. An article referring to the accuracy of this drive system can be found on cloudynights. The precision stainless steel worm runs in ball bearings.

I can substitute a 359-tooth (Sidereal-Rate) worm gear, instead of the 360-tooth. The cost is the same for either gear.

The precision stainless steel worm runs in ball bearings, and the worm threads are spring-loaded into the gear teeth to prevent unwanted backlash. The worm housing is designed to compensate for low temperatures, thus, allowing for the expansion and contraction of the gear and the telescope mounting.

This is a NEW BYERS 11-1/8" diameter -- 442-tooth Telescope Drive, With Spring-Loaded Slip-Clutch, Bored To Fit A 3.000-inch shaft diameter. I will supply at no extra cost, a reducing sleeve to fit a smaller shaft diameter, if you wish.

It has a double ended worm and bearing housing, clock reduction gears and synchronous motor. If you prefer I will substitute a Hurst Stepper Motor. No extra cost. This drive will track at true Sidereal-Rate.

NEW BYERS 22-5/8", 718-th Gear with Spring loaded Worm/Housing

NEW BYERS 22-5/8" 718-th drive w/ double-ended worm, ball-bearing/spring-loaded worm housing. The worm bearing housing is designed to operate at low temperature and is spring-loaded to keep the pressure of the worm threads against the gear teeth to prevent unwanted backlash. This is the LAST one of this size. The gear is bored is at 2.00", can be bored to customers specifications at no extra cost. A slip-clutch can also be supplied to suit the

customer's needs - Price of the clutch will be quoted after I know the shaft diameter.

This is the last large gear that will ever be available. The 718-teeth is exactly 1/2 Sidereal-Rate, thus it will track the stars exactly when the worm turns at 1 rotation in 2 minutes. If you have a large telescope or intend to build one in the future, this will be the last chance to get a Byers super accurate drive. Shipping cost will depend on the location of where it is shipped.
